MG F1-2000 white primier on on main body parts
Sunday, November 23, 2008, 06:06 PM - MG 1/12 F1-2000
Ok, finally got some time to do some modeling..

I sprayed 2 wet layers of Tamiya white primers on all main body parts and undertray this morning. Then I used 1200 grits sandpaper to smooth out the dried primer. Now they are ready for bright red paint next week (hopefully.)

1. 2 layers of white primers are on.

2. Another angle.. This is one huge car.

3. Wet sand with 1200 grits sand paper and I am letting it air-drying in the bathroom.

Thera are few more parts that require the red paint too. They are small winglets on both sides of the airbox, mirrors and barge board. They are relatively small, I will do them in next batch.

MG F1-2000 Prep-ing done on main body parts...
Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 08:38 PM - MG 1/12 F1-2000
Recent bad economy time really killed my modeling mood... I think I am in a little depressed or anxiety mode after hearing bad economy or layoff news every day for last 2 months. Anyway...

Finally got some chance to update my building blog... After a long struggle on the fixing up the rough surface.. all main body parts are ready to receive white primer.

After 1st layer of gray primer, I patched tons of Tamiya polyester putty on.

Re-primed, then heavy sanding.

Re-primed again, then final touch up.

OK, ready for white primer... The whole process took me a month on and off....

Next... need to tackle the rough undertray..

Stay tuned.

MG F1-2000 - prep-ing monocoque and other body parts
Sunday, July 20, 2008, 12:57 AM - MG 1/12 F1-2000
Now it's time to prep the monster monocoque. This is one huge piece of resin and casting is very bad... and resin stinks too.. When I do the filing on the resin, I always submerge them into water to avoid toxin resin dust flying around..

Before I start, I drilled all holes for suspension arms and test fit ted them. Fitting is lousy as expected and a lot of bend and twists are needed.

I used 30 min epoxy glue to put together the monocoque piece, then put on Tamiya epoxy quick type putty to fill the huge gaps.

After heavy sanding, it looks like this.. I expect a lot of filling and sanding will follow...

Guys, MG stuff is really tough to build and their parts are pretty bad... I would recommend to avoid MG kit..
